Pair Fatally Shot South Jersey Man During Daytime Robbery: Prosecutor

Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting during a robbery in Camden, authorities said.

One of the suspects was shot and wounded during the struggle. according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

Mihkael Greene, 19, and Nysar Streater, 21, both of Camden, were charged on Sunday, May 15, with felony murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Yahmir Catoe of Camden, they said.

Both men also were charged with weapons offenses.

On Saturday, May 14, at approximately 10:19 a.m., Camden police responded to the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive in reference to multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding a shooting. 

Police found Catoe lying on the ground in a nearby park suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, MacAulay and Rodriguez said. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 4:22 p.m., they said.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Greene and Streater were attempting to rob Catoe when Greene fatally shot Catoe. Streater, who was physically restraining the victim, was shot in the hand by Greene during the robbery, they said.

Streater was treated at Cooper University Hospital and taken into custody at the hospital on Saturday. Greene was taken into custody in Camden at about 7 p.m. on Sunday, by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and Camden police.
